Sucht man bei Ebay einmal mit dem Begriff "Magic Eye", so finden
sich neben erstaunlich vielen Röhrenangeboten auf Offerten von
VU-Meter Bausätzen. Anders als bei den meisten Angeboten müssen sie
nicht für die verschiedenen Versorgungsspannungen (i.d.R. 6V und
250V) selbst sorgen, müssen ein Gehäuse bauen, brauchen keine
Adapterleitungen zu löten, haben nur eine Mono-Anzeige oder sind auf
einen Röhrentyp beschränkt.
If you're searching on Ebay for "Magic Eye"
than you'll find not only a lot of tubes but also offers of such VU
meter kits. But as against the most other offers you need not to supply all the voltages (6V
and 250V), you do not need to build a case, solder adapter wires for the tube's
connections, have only a mono display or only one tube type which can be
fitted.
Mr. Nixie hat alle diese Bausätze genommen, in einen Topf geworfen,
kräftig kochen lassen, mit viel
"Knoff Hoff" abgeschmeckt, und heraus kam schließlich das
Universal Magic Eye VU-Meter.
Mr. Nixie has taken all these kits, put them
in a pot, added a hefty dose of the legendary Mr. Nixie Magic, and
finally the Universal Magic Eye VU-Meter was created.
In diesem VU-Meter können nahezu
alle noch erhältlichen Noval (9-pol. Sockel) Magische Fächer / Bänder eingesetzt
werden, ohne dass irgendwelche Lötarbeiten notwendig werden. Auch die Heizspannung der Röhren spielt keine Rolle; mittels DIP-Schalter sind 4V / 6V / 12V oder 19V einstellbar.
You can fit into this VU-Meter the most
commonly available 9-pin Noval Magic Eye tubes without the need to
do any soldering. Even the different heater voltages doesn't matter
as they can easily be set with a DIP switch for 4V / 6V / 12V and
19V.
In
der Schaltung ist eine automatische Aussteuerungsregelung eingebaut,
damit zeigt das Magische Auge nahezu unabhängig von der anliegenden
Signalstärke immer etwas an.
Built in to the circuitry is an automatic
level control, therefore your Magic Eye will almost always display a
signal, regardless of the input level
Eine weitere Besonderheit liegt in dem vollständigen Stereo-Design der
Schaltung. Setzt man die z.B.
EM83 Stereo-Röhre ein, so erhält man eine
echte Stereo Links-Rechts-Anzeige.

Wie Sie auch sehen, sind auf der Leiterplatte eine große Anzahl an
SMD-Bauteilen enthalten. Aber keine Angst, diese sind bereits
vorbestückt, so dass Sie in der Lage sind, diesen Bausatz innerhalb
einer Stunde funktionsfähig zusammenzubauen.
Er ist daher auch für den "weniger geübten"
Hobbyelektroniker geeignet, jedoch sollten die bis zu 300 V und die
entsprechenden Vorsichtsmaßnahmen beachtet werden!
You
may notice that a lot of SMT components are mounted on the PCB. But
don't panic. All these parts are pre-assembled, so it is easy for
you to assemble the kit for full functionality within 1 hour.
So this kit is even suitable for the "less skilled hobbyists" but
you'll should keep in mind the 300 V supply voltage and the
precautions!
